Over 50 constituents have come to me for assistance with Visas, passports and immigration issues over the last two years.

MPs are in a unique position to be able to offer assistance to constituents facing difficulties related to these issues and I am pleased that many of those I have been involved with over this term have had positive outcomes.
These cases are varied and are often complex with different lengths of time to resolve.

Types of cases I have assisted with include:

– Visa problems – family members coming to Na h-Eileanan an Iar temporarily and permanently

– Assisting local employers sourcing labour from outside the country when they are unable to fill key positions
The situation facing the fishing industry has been widely reported and I have assisted on several occasions in trying to get non-EEA crewmen into the UK to work on vessels in Na h-Eileanan an Iar to keep boats at sea.
I have also assisted other types of employers with this issue.

– Urgent need for passport replacement

– UK citizenship queries

– EU Nationals – following the EU Referendum result in June 2016, I endeavoured to offer some reassurance to EU Nationals living here in Na h-Eileanan an Iar. Since then I have had contact from several island residents who have worries about Brexit and what it will mean for them.

– Refugees – I have had a lot of contact from people in Na h-Eileanan an Iar who are concerned about the refugee crisis and how little the UK Government has done to assist who are in desperate need of our help.
