Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP Angus MacNeil says the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) intervention on the UK’s economic crisis shows more than ever that Scotland needs to escape the damage of Westminster control.

The IMF says the Chancellor’s £45bn mini-budget tax cut plan will undo other measures and “likely increase inequality”

The SNP are calling for a recall of Parliament and to bring forward an emergency budget to address the crisis.

Mr MacNeil said: “The UK economy is in crisis and the intervention from the IMF is utterly damning. It is not right that MPs are unable to hold the UK Government to account while the economy is in crisis and people in Scotland are paying the price for Westminster’s failures.”
