Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus MacNeil continues to press the Home Office to provide urgent assistance to Ukrainian refugees.

Mr MacNeil has been approached by constituents who are desperate to get family members out of the war-torn Ukraine.
Commenting Angus MacNeil MP said:
“The ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine is very concerning and urgent action is needed to help people who are trying to flee the conflict.
“I have been dealing with the Home Office on behalf of constituents who have family trying to leave Ukraine. Their leaving Ukraine is dependent on them being able to come and live with relatives on the Isle of Lewis. However, as things stand, they are unable to get to our islands because of the grim attitude of the Home Office.
“There is a war on, and the Home Office are showing no empathy or compassion. The independent nations of the EU have waived visas entirely for Ukraine.
“Sadly, Scotland, unlike independent Ireland for example, does not have power over border control and therefore the ability to show more compassion to war refugees.”
