Local MP welcomes ongoing progress
Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP Angus MacNeil has welcomed the announcement from O2 that work is underway to bring 4G service to Howmore on the Isle of South Uist and in Breasclete and Shawbost on the Isle of Lewis.
Commenting Angus MacNeil said:
“O2 tell me that work commenced on Monday 28th August 2017. Subject to successful implementation and testing, customers will see the new and improved service in the coming weeks, for some maybe sooner.
“It is pleasing to hear from O2 that customers in the Western Isles will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet making everything easier when using their phone or tablet.
“I know that some O2 customers have noticed that 4G is already available in some areas and this is it seems is also of benefit to Vodafone customers. It is good to see progress being made on improving the mobile coverage in our islands and I hope that mobile operators will work together ensure that all areas will have 4G.”
