News reports of an isolated outbreak of Bovine TB in Skye are a cause for concern for crofting and farming communities in the area says Angus MacNeil MP, SNP Shadow Spokesperson for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Mr MacNeil said:

“This is a developing situation and while a cause for concern Scotland has an excellent record in dealing with such isolated outbreaks. Scotland has been officially ‘TB free’ since 2009 and it is important to all in the industry that we keep this valuable status.

“I am certain that the Scottish Government is doing everything in its power to contain the risk and will support any crofters or farmers affected through what must be a worrying and difficult time.”
