The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) must take immediate action to address island concerns over theory test delays says Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP Angus MacNeil.

Mr MacNeil had contacted the DVSA on behalf of constituents who had to wait over 14 weeks before they could take the theory driving test.  These delays impact on car tests, motorcycle tests and the vocational tests for a Category C & D license.

Commenting Angus MacNeil said:

“I am very disappointed to hear that people are still facing lengthy delays before they can take their theory test.  I understand that at least six people had to travel to Ullapool recently to take the test, this is a ludicrous situation which the DVSA must address quickly.

“I also understand that there are no trailer tests dates available in Stornoway and people are expected to travel to Inverness as it is the nearest test centre.  This is financially onerous and damaging to businesses.

“I fail to understand why the DVSA continues to harm the economy in our islands and I have contacted them again to ask that they take immediate action to sort this problem.”
