A mum-of-three living in Na h-Eileanan an Iar has been shortlisted for a national award for setting up a support system for those affected by post natal depression.

Rosey Wren, who lives in North Tolsta, Isle of Lewis, is in the running for the Healthy Living Digital Hero award in the TalkTalk Digital Heroes Awards 2015 for creating PND and Me, a peer support network on Twitter which has already connected with more than 3,000 people.

After experiencing antenatal and postnatal depression herself, Rosey has dedicated time and effort to helping others in the same position.

Na h-Eileanan an Iar MP Angus MacNeil has already lodged his vote for Rosey and is urging others to do the same.

Mr MacNeil said:

“Rosey’s efforts to provide support to others are inspirational.

“Using her own experience, she identified a way of helping others wherever they might be and this network has expanded to become a resource for not just parents but also health care professionals.

“She now plans to set up a national charity to provide support throughout Scotland.”

Rosey is planning to set up PND and Me as a charity with the aim of reaching more families in need of Perinatal Mental illness support especially in more rural areas. She is also hoping to expand to telephone support and offer mental health training to those who wish to volunteer their time to offer peer support via the Twitter network/phone.

Rosey now requires public support to win this prestigious award.
