Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus MacNeil has contacted Brendan Dick, Director, BT Scotland, on behalf of constituents from Lewis to Uist, who are experiencing lengthy delays in getting their phone lines installed.

In March, a business in Uist placed an order with BT for a phone line and broadband, to date, this service has not been delivered.

In May, a BT customer requested the re-direction of his phone line and broadband and again, to date, this has not been delivered.

Mr MacNeil has also been made aware that the vehicle which transports the BT cabling has broken down and that there is no replacement vehicle available to take on this work.

Commenting Mr MacNeil said:

“It is disappointing to hear that BT customers are experiencing this level of service.

“These issues have been going on for far too long and BT customers are becoming increasingly frustrated.

“I am surprised that only one vehicle is available to service all of the Western Isles and that no other arrangements can be put in place when breakdowns occur, as they have in this instance.

“This is not a good service from BT and I have written to Brendan Dick to convey my concerns and the frustration of BT customers.”

Ends.
