Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has written to Bristow Search & Rescue and Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) to request an update on the situation surrounding the Search and Rescue pilot helicopter training undertaken in Stornoway.

Mr MacNeil has requested clarity from Bristow Search & Rescue and HIAL surrounding the long term plans for this training to continue in Stornoway.

Angus MacNeil MP said:

“Many will have noticed the ongoing training by Bristow Search & Rescue, including night-time training.

“The weather conditions in our islands make this the perfect location for helicopter pilot training.

“I have written to Bristow Search and Rescue and HIAL to request an update on the situation to ensure that this training continues in Stornoway.  We are looking for assurances that the appropriate assistance is given with regards the facilities that are required to allow this to happen.
