PHONE LINE IS LIFELINE SERVICE

Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus MacNeil has again contacted Brendan Dick, Director, BT Scotland following reports of ongoing faults with phone lines in various parts of the islands.

Customers on the Isle of Harris are also experiencing problems with their broadband speed.

Angus MacNeil MP said:

“I am aware that Scalpay residents are becoming increasingly frustrated about the intermittent service they have been receiving from BT, since 10th January.

“BT also tell me that anyone with a fault with their phone line should in the first instance, report it to their Communication Provider.

“People in the islands fully appreciate that BT have had a lot to deal with following the recent storm.

“A phone line is a lifeline for many people, and whilst we appreciate the work which has been done to date by the engineers, it would seem that BT should again be increasing the number of engineers to help speed up the repair work required on phone lines and broadband.”
