Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has welcomed confirmation that under the new Common Agricultural Policy, crofters will receive around €32 million and that, 34 roadshows are being held across the country to provide farmers and crofters with extensive information about the new CAP.
Commenting Angus MacNeil said:
“This is good news for our crofters and shows that the SNP Scottish Government is listening to the crofting community. Especially, as we know crofting and farming in Scotland receives one of the worst funding allocations in the EU for any agriculture, due to successive UK approaches. We must make sure that this money comes to the islands which will then circulate in our communities.
“I also welcome the fact that roadshows are being held to inform crofters of the new CAP. This is an opportunity for the crofting community to hear how the new CAP reforms will benefit them in future years.”
