Following representations made to BT, Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has received an update from Brendan Dick, Director, BT Scotland, following Mr MacNeil’s calls to repair the internet infrastructure after complaints about the slow internet speeds.
Angus MacNeil MP said:
“Many will be pleased to hear information from BT. It seems that work is still ongoing to move this situation forward, but in summary, BT are currently moving and rebalancing heavily loaded elements of the network to reduce and remove traffic on their broadband lines in the islands.
“BT say that this is a complex exercise that must be carried out using a phased approach, it is this phased approached that is unfortunately causing difficulties to broadband users but BT hope that once this is over, broadband users will have an improved service.
“From what BT tell me, I am hopeful that broadband users in the islands will see an improvement to the service over the next few weeks. We shall be keeping an eye on the situation.”
