Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus B MacNeil and MSP Alasdair Allan have welcomed the announcement from Transport Minister, Keith Brown that the procurement process has started to design and build two new ferries, one of which is to service the Tarbert-Lochmaddy-Uig Triangle.

Angus MacNeil MP said:

“This is good news for the communities in Harris and Uist.  Reliable ferry services is our islands is important and I welcome this announcement from the Scottish Government.”

Alasdair Allan MSP said:

“This is the clearest indication yet of serious new money going into the Uig triangle routes, and any progress towards a new vessel will be welcomed in both Harris and Uist.”
