Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus MacNeil has welcomed the announcement from Health Secretary Alex Neil that the Scottish Government is to make changes to legislation to give rural communities affected by pharmacy applications additional powers.
Last year, people in Uist were concerned that the opening of a dispensing pharmacy in Benbecula would have a detrimental effect on patient care.
Angus MacNeil MP commented:
“This announcement from Health Secretary Alex Neil, will be welcomed which will give rural communities affected by pharmacy applications greater powers.
“Last year, many people in Uist were worried that the opening of a pharmacy in the community would be detrimental to patient care.
“I believe that health concerns should take precedence over business concerns and I communicated this in my response to the consultation and directly to Health Secretary Alex Neil, I am therefore pleased that changes will be made to legislation.”
