101 Holidays have conducted the biggest ever survey of the UK’s travel journalists to find their favourite cities, countries, beach resorts and airlines.

The Hebrides was listed No 3 favourite UK travel destination, however, if the cities were removed, the Hebrides would be the favourite.

Commenting Isles MP Angus MacNeil said:

“I am delighted to see that the Hebrides has been ranked as the No 3 travel destination in the UK.

We must note that we were beaten by two cities London and Edinburgh, when you exclude cities from this category, the Hebrides ranked No 1.  This is a fantastic boost for our tourism industry and will be welcomed throughout the Hebrides.”
