Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus MacNeil, has welcomed the announcement from Caledonian MacBrayne that the MV Clipper Ranger will take over from the MV Muirneag, which comes out of service later this month.

The MV Clipper Ranger will provide the overnight freight service between Stornoway and Ullapool until the MV Loch Seaforth comes into service in 2014.

Angus MacNeil said:

“I am pleased to hear that an announcement has now been made regarding the replacement for the MV Muirneag and that this vessel will provide greater capacity on the busy Stornoway to Ullapool route.

“It is also important, as stated by CalMac, that the crew members of the MV Muirneag will be offered roles within the CalMac fleet.
