Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP parliamentarians, Angus MacNeil MP and Alasdair Allan MSP, have welcomed news that South Uist Youth Development Group has recently been successful in applying to Young Start, securing £49,120 funding.

Young Start is a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund.  Young Start aims to create opportunities for children and young people aged between 8 and 24 to help realise their potential. Organisations can apply for a total Young Start grant of between £10,000 and £50,000 and for up to two years funding.

Angus MacNeil said:

“I am sure that this one year project will be of great benefit to young people, this funding is welcome news and I congratulate the South Uist Development Group in securing this financial support.”

Alasdair Allan said:

“This support for the South Uist Youth Development Group is well deserved and will make a difference in the lives of many of the island’s young people. Well done to the group for making this successful bid.”
