HIGH SPEED RAIL LINK PRIORITY
Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus MacNeil has expressed disappointment that the Department for Transport in Westminster will not prioritise the planned consultation about allowing on-road motor races.
Mr MacNeil has maintained pressure on the Department for Transport on behalf of Lewis Car Club Ltd, to proceed with the public consultation.
Angus MacNeil MP said:
“This is hugely disappointing for members of the Lewis Car Club who are eager to progress Rally Hebrides, which has the potential to inject millions of pounds into the local economy.
“I have received confirmation from the Department for Transport that they are prioritising the High Speed rail (HS2) and rail franchising, because of this they will not take forward the consultation for on-road motor races.
“I am perplexed at the limitations of the Westminster government; surely the brakes should not be applied on all other projects because of the High Speed rail?
“Here we have another perfect example for why we need a Yes vote in September 2014 and a government that will put Scotland first.”
