SCOTTISH FUELS WILL BE FLEXIBLE IN REQUESTS FOR ORDERS BELOW 500 LITRES

Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus B MacNeil has welcomed confirmation from Scottish Fuels that they will attempt to accommodate orders of heating oil below 500 litres from customers in the Western Isles.

This follows on from Mr MacNeil’s enquiry with the UK government in November when he questioned why 500 litres was the minimum amount of heating oil, which could be delivered to customers.

Commenting Angus MacNeil said:

“With the average price of heating oil currently in the region of 71 pence per litre, people are being asked to spend over £300; this is a huge expense especially for pensioners and those on low incomes.

“I am pleased to receive confirmation from Scottish Fuels that they will monitor the orders and attempt to accommodate requests below 500 litres.

“I hope that this welcome step by Scottish Fuels will also encourage other fuel suppliers to do likewise.
