MACNEIL CALLS FOR ACTION TO REPAIR SCALPAY POST OFFICE COMPUTER SYSTEM

Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has written to Julie Morrison, Head of External Relations at the Royal Mail Group following complaints that Scalpay Post Office customers are unable to receive their pensions and benefits due to a fault with the computer system.

Angus MacNeil said:

“I understand that a problem with the computer system occurred almost two weeks ago, despite customers having reported this fault the issue has still to be rectified and they are unable to withdraw their pensions or benefits in their local post office.

“Times are difficult enough with rising fuel and heating costs, it is unacceptable that customers are unable to receive their pensions or benefits.

“I have written to the Royal Mail Group to complain about the delay in fixing this problem, and to ask that this service is reinstated as a matter of urgency.”
