Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has received confirmation from Keith Brown MSP, Transport Minister that shellfish operators will receive the permitted free ferry journey. Mr MacNeil contacted Transport Minister Keith Brown MSP, when some operators were refused the permitted free ferry journey for vivier lorries as they were carrying essential equipment required to transport live shellfish.
Angus MacNeil said:
“Shellfish operators require to carry the tubes and crates to ensure that the live shellfish are not damaged during transportation.
“I am pleased that the Transport Minister has listened to the arguments I raised on behalf of the shellfish industry and that this situation has now been clarified.
