MACNEIL RECEIVES CONFIRMATION FROM DRIVING STANDARDS AGENCY

Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has received confirmation from the Driving Standards Agency that motorcycle testing can be delivered on the Isle of Lewis.  Mr MacNeil has continued to liaise with the Department for Transport and the Driving Standards Agency to ensure that motorcycle testing could be undertaken on the Island.

“This really is fantastic news and I am grateful to the Driving Standards Agency and Mike Penning MP, Transport Minister, for listening to the concerns of my constituents.

“Previously, people wishing to take the motorcycle test had to travel to the mainland at great expense both financially and in terms of time, this was obviously unacceptable.  If it was necessary to re-sit the test, extra accommodation was required and in some cases loss of earnings.  Now that motorcycle tests can be taken on the Isle of Lewis, this will help ease the financial burden.

“The Driving Standards Agency will write to me again to confirm when the first day of motorcycle testing will commence on the Isle of Lewis.”
