Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP, Angus Brendan MacNeil has written to the Information Commissioner’s Office and to Ed Vaizey MP, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, following a number of complaints from constituents regarding unsolicited marketing calls.
Angus MacNeil said:
“These calls in the main, appear to be pre-recorded and I am aware of one constituents who receives on average, five calls each morning. This is obviously annoying but when the elderly and ill are being inundated day and night, with these nuisance calls it is unacceptable.
“Some people are at their wits end and despite registering with the Telephone Preference Service, which is supposed to prevent unwanted calls; they are still being bombarded with pre-recorded marketing calls.
“I have written to the Information Commissioner’s Office and to Ed Vaizey MP at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to request that action is taken to prevent these unsolicited calls from continuing to bother people in their homes.”
